The Louisville Cardinals, led by first-year head coach Pat Kelsey, are on a roll! After a tough loss to Georgia Tech, the Cards have bounced back, currently riding a four-game win streak. With a 20-6 overall record and 13-2 in the ACC, Louisville is firmly in the hunt for a spot in the NCAA tournament this March.
In his latest Bracketology update, Joe Lunardi has the Cardinals as a 7-seed, set to face 10-seed West Virginia in the first round in Cleveland. Considering the recent struggles under former head coach Kenny Payne, Louisville fans are eager to see their team back in the tournament for the first time since 2019.
Other experts are also predicting Louisville will land a similar seed come Selection Sunday:
- Jerry Palm of CBS Sports has Louisville as a 7-seed in the Midwest Region (Indianapolis). In this scenario, the Cardinals would face 10-seed Ohio State in the first round, with top teams like Alabama, Tennessee, Texas Tech, and Michigan State filling out the region’s top four seeds.
- SB Nation also has Louisville as a 7-seed, but in the East Region (Newark). The Cardinals would open against 10-seed San Diego State in Cleveland, with Duke as the top seed, followed by Tennessee, Texas Tech, and Kentucky rounding out the region’s top four.
- Mike DeCourcy of Fox Sports agrees, pegging Louisville as a 7-seed in the East Region, where they would meet Ohio State in the first round. This bracket places Duke at No. 1, with Tennessee, Michigan, and St. John’s also securing top-four seeds.
As the Cards continue their strong push, they’re on track to end their recent tournament drought and make a significant splash in March. It’s an exciting time for Louisville fans as they look ahead to the postseason!
